Problem

A national maritime authority needs to detect oil spills and investigate their source, with data that ranges from public to highly sensitive.

Approach

  • Component identification with selection rationale and an end-to-end architecture.
  • Detection and investigation workflows, plus executive-dashboard and investigation WebGIS wireframes.
  • Deployment model across three data-sensitivity tiers; data volume and retention sizing; licensing and cost structure.
  • Stated assumptions, and nine rejected alternatives with the reasoning behind each.

Results

  • A complete design brief covering architecture through cost structure.
  • Pricing outside the design remit was explicitly declined rather than guessed.
